ASSOCIATE VETERINARIAN - HIRING (Revised February 2018)

Centre Animal Hospital is a well-established companion animal clinic; and is a division of Animal Health Providers Ltd.  We are a steady, fully-supported, community-minded practice.  Established in 1983 by Dr. Rex Benoit (WCVM, 1969), Centre Animal Hospital has been a cornerstone in Cold Lake for decades.  The practice changed ownership in 2014, when Rex’s son, Dr. Greg Benoit took the reins, and Centre Animal Hospital became a division of Animal Health Providers Ltd.

Family, community, friendship, client relations and teamwork are the keystones of this practice.  When asked to describe the atmosphere of our clinic, our DVM’s and support staff said:  Welcoming.  Compassionate.  Supportive.  Positive Energy.  Commitment.  Mentorship.  Friendship.  Home.  This is all at the heart of what we do; and is the foundation of our mission (created by our staff!) which is posted in our waiting room, and above our surgery suite as a daily reminder to all:

From your loving hands into ours:

Our work family will care for your animal as one of our own.

Available whenever you need us, we work hard to deliver a customized experience to our clients and patients.

Our commitment to growth and learning ensures the most diverse and highest quality veterinary care available in Northeastern Alberta.

Providing top-notch medicine, learning, and teaching are very important to us as a hospital.  We offer a full complement of diagnostics including digital x-ray (including dental radiography), endoscopy, ultrasonography, orthopedic surgeries, an in-house lab, and comprehensive wellness programs.  Continuing Education is supported and encouraged for DVM’s and technicians alike.  Having a sister clinic nearby also allows access to 3 additional DVMs; totaling 5 DVMs currently between the two practices.  The 24-hour on-call services we provide to our community are shared between the two clinics, which works out to between 4-6 days per month for each DVM to be on call.

Our team is passionate about supporting one another, and we strive to ease the transition from student to doctor.  Mentorship is not new to us; our sister clinic supports UCVM by offering final rotations, so our DVMs are all ready and willing to teach and assist as needed.  We have created and implemented a structured, yet flexible mentorship program, which is tailored to every individual’s learning curve.  The feedback we have received from our newest team members has been very positive; the program allowed them to feel more supported and competent during their first few weeks.

Our DVMs come from varied educational backgrounds, which provides diversity in education and experience.  We are looking to fill an associate position at Centre Animal Hospital with a candidate who is a solid fit with our team.  Originally created from a maternity leave; this is a permanent, full-time position.  Located in Cold Lake, Alberta, we are in the heart of the Lakeland Region; often referred to as Alberta’s 4-season playground.  There are many opportunities for adventure for the outdoor enthusiast, and while we have many city amenities, we are still well-enough away from the commotion of big city life.

Our compensation package is valued at over $100,000.  This package includes a starting salary for new grads of $85,000 plus compensated, shared on-call (an average of 5 days per month on call).    Other perks such as license dues, paid holiday time, CE, phone and clothing allowance and health care plans are also part of the compensation package.  A signing bonus and a relocation allowance to help offset the costs associated with moving will also be offered to the successful applicant, and is in addition to the package value.

To apply, please email your CV along with cover letter to our Practice Manager, Tracy Coonce: [email protected] .

Thank you for your interest in the Centre Animal Hospital team!
